Applications are invited from qualified persons for admission into REGULAR (Full-Time) graduate programmes in the University of Cape Coast for the 2026/2027 academic year. The admission brochure with detailed entry requirements and target groups is available at sgs.ucc.edu.gh.

NB: Applicants are to note that names on their academic certificate(s) should correspond to the names on their application form.

Voucher sale deadline: Friday, 17th July, 2026. Completed application documents (two copies) must be submitted on or before Friday, 31st July, 2026 to the Deputy Registrar, School of Graduate Studies, University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast.

Entry Requirements

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Candidates seeking admission to PhD programmes must:

  1. Have an MPhil or research MA/MEd/MSc/MBA degree in an appropriate field from a recognised university; OR have an MA/MEd/MSc/MBA degree with a CGPA of 3.5 or better (not more than one grade C+) and a score of B+ or better in Research Methods.
  2. Submit two transcripts of academic record (Non-UCC Alumni; UCC Alumni provide registration number).
  3. Submit at least two referee reports (one from a former Lecturer).
  4. Submit a 3–5 page research proposal including references.
  5. Satisfy additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/Department.

Master of Philosophy / Commerce / Nursing (MPhil / MCom / MN)

Candidates must:

  1. Have a good first degree (at least Second Class) in an appropriate field from a recognised university.
  2. Submit two transcripts (Non-UCC Alumni; UCC Alumni provide registration number).
  3. Submit at least two referee reports (one from a former Lecturer).
  4. Submit a 2–3 page research proposal including references.
  5. Pass a selection interview.
  6. Satisfy additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/Department.

Master of Arts / Science / Education / Business Administration (MA / MSc / MEd / MBA)

Candidates must:

  1. Have a good first degree (at least Second Class) in an appropriate field from a recognised university.
  2. Submit an official transcript (Non-UCC Alumni; UCC Alumni provide registration number).
  3. Submit names of two referees (one from a former Lecturer).
  4. Satisfy additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/Department.

Duration and Structure

  • PhD — 36 months (Full-Time): One year of coursework or directed reading, followed by two years of thesis writing.
  • MPhil / MCom / MN — 24 months (Full-Time): First part: one year of coursework (two semesters). Second part: thesis writing.
  • MA / MSc / MEd / MBA — 15 months (Full-Time): Two semesters of coursework followed by dissertation writing.
