Aim(s)

The aim of the programme is to produce graduate Mathematics teachers for the second cycle institutions in Ghana and beyond.

Programme Objectives

Objective(s)

The specific objectives of the programme are to: a. equip prospective teachers with content knowledge in mathematics. b. develop in prospective teachers the appropriate pedagogical content knowledge for teaching mathematics. c. equip prospective teachers with knowledge in the effective use of technology in teaching and learning Mathematics. d. inculcate in prospective teachers the habit of reflective teaching. e. develop basic knowledge and skills in research in mathematics education.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have passes in Core English, Core Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Sciences (Grade D or better for SSSCE candidates and Grade C6 or better for WASSCE candidates).

In addition, applicants must have passes in Elective Mathematics and any two (2) of the following elective subjects: Economics, Geography, Business Management, Accounting, Physics, or Chemistry.

Graduation Requirements

  1. Course Requirements: A candidate for the BCom (Accounting) degree must pass all courses taken, meet Inter-Faculty course requirements.
  2. Credit Requirements: A candidate must accumulate a minimum of 140 credits (including Advance Credits).
  3. Additional Requirements: The candidate must attain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 1.0. In addition, the candidate must have settled financial and other obligations to the university.
