About This Programme

Programme Aim

Aim(s)

The programme aims to produce graduates who, having been exposed to relevant content and effective pedagogical approaches in Agriculture Education, are equipped to enhance the teaching and learning of agriculture through the use of appropriate technologies required of a 21st-century educator. These graduates will possess key competencies such as critical thinking and problem-solving, creativity and innovation, communication and collaboration, cultural identity and global citizenship, personal development and leadership, and digital literacy, enabling them to effectively support agricultural education at the pre-tertiary level.

Programme Objectives

Objective(s)

The specific objectives of the programme are to: i. Equip students with the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes to teach General Agriculture at the pre-tertiary level. ii. Provide students with the necessary knowledge and analytical skills in modern agricultural practices to contribute effectively to the growth and development of agriculture in Ghana. iii. Foster a desire for further studies and lifelong learning in agriculture education among students. iv. Prepare students to integrate contemporary technologies and innovations to engender 21st-century skills in learners. v. Build students' capacity to conduct research and utilize research findings in agriculture education to inform their practice. vi. Develop strong entrepreneurial skills and attitudes in students, enabling them to create opportunities within the agricultural value chain. vii. train students to become innovative and flexible in their teaching, drawing on their knowledge and experience and relate them to what they do in practice. viii. build the capacity of students to collaborate with learners, parents, colleagues, and school management to make agriculture attractive learners.

Graduation Requirements

  1. Course Requirements: A candidate for the BCom (Accounting) degree must pass all courses taken, meet Inter-Faculty course requirements.
  2. Credit Requirements: A candidate must accumulate a minimum of 140 credits (including Advance Credits).
  3. Additional Requirements: The candidate must attain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 1.0. In addition, the candidate must have settled financial and other obligations to the university.
