The main aim of the programme is to produce graduates qualified and capable of working in the human services sectors of the country including child and adolescent welfare, care for the aged, mental and emotional health services, security occupations, rehabilitation centres, and other human service organisations and industries.
The specific objectives of this programme are to; i. train students to acquire the qualities, abilities and skills to assist with the provision of psychological services such as to assess, diagnose, and provide intervention in a variety of problems to a broad range of clients. ii. equip students with knowledge and competencies to assist in the provision of human interaction skills within the human service institutions. iii. train students to acquire the knowledge and competencies to prepare for professional careers in Psychology.
iv. equip students with skills to assist in behavioural management of individuals at various age levels and workers in various institutions.

Applicants must have passes in Core English, Core Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies (Grade D or better for SSSCE candidates and Grade C6 or better for WASSCE candidates).
In addition, applicants must have three (3) elective passes selected from any one of the following categories: Literature in English, Ghanaian Language, Religious Studies, History, or French; Elective Mathematics, Geography, or Economics; or Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.
